Providing cutting edge Allergy Treatments
As a leading specialist in several fields including pediatric and adult lung disease and allergy treatment, Dr. Randhawa has pioneered effective treatment for those in danger of anaphylaxis from eating common foods. Peanuts, milk, tree nuts, fish and shellfish along with wheat, eggs and soy can be life threatening for many people. In children the danger is even greater as their airways are narrower.
Dr. Randhawa has incorporated his extraordinary catalogue of knowledge into a unique approach to diagnosing and treating severe food allergies. Using his OIT (oral immunotherapy) protocol he has treated over 450 patients with a 99% graduation rate from the treatment. As a highly respected immunologist he attracts at-risk patients from Los Angeles and the surrounding area to this highly successful program. His focus is on providing long-term protection from life threatening foods in a completely safe program currently surpassing over 6,000 successful food challenges.
Gallegos Food Allergy Center
Dr. Randhawa is the Director of the Gallegos Food Allergy Center. Located within Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach it is the first pediatric food allergy center in Southern California. The Center was established by Dr. Randhawa after the Gallegos family made a generous donation to establish a state of the art food allergy treatment center. Their frustrating experience trying to get help for their son, who exhibited severe food allergies as an infant, motivated their desire to establish a treatment center to ensure other children and their parents were spared their indirect path to treatment.
They requested that Dr. Randhawa direct the treatment team at the center due to their personal experience and his reputation as one of the leading Orange County immunologists. The Gallegos Food Allergy Center is focused on helping those with potentially life threatening food allergies to develop tolerance to these foods over time, in a safe and controlled environment.
Cystic Fibrosis Center
In addition to practicing clinical medicine, Dr. Inderpal Randhawa currently serves as the director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center at Long Beach Memorial Hospital and the research coordinator in two fellowship programs at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine and UCI-Miller Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Randhawa draws on his many years of clinical experience and research in treating this disease. His insight into the immune system, the dynamics of blood supply to the lungs and the relationship between exercise and treatment has made him a leader in the field of CF treatment.
Always striving to expand knowledge and success in treatment, Dr. Randhawa approaches CF treatment by first applying the accepted standard of care and upon assessment of the success or failure of the treatment implements cutting-edge treatments aimed at stabilizing patients who are awaiting lung transplantation.
